Whether on the soccer pitch, in the classroom or in Portland's broader community, I strive to be the best player and person that I can be. My name is Alana Hill and I am an attacking midfielder from Portland, Oregon. Currently I attend Catlin Gabel School, where I am expected to graduate in 2027. I am also a member of Oregon Surf’s 2009 ECNL Girls Team.
Soccer has been a central part of my life, for as long as I can remember! I grew up watching my dad, and elder sister play in Manila, Philippines, where I was born. I continued playing in Cairns, Australia, where I moved and lived for 5 years. Now in Portland, Oregon, I play with the experience of many coaches, styles and teammates over the years. This gives me an edge: versatility, which makes a great player, but an even better learner and teammate. More than that, though, is my drive. I want to play. I love to play. I need to play. I set high ambitions and standards for myself, and I work tirelessly to meet them. I wake up early to train, and between managing practice and homework I go to sleep late. But honestly, I want to do this, because I love the game that much.
In the same way that I am committed to my game, I am committed to my school and my community. I am a Palma Scholar with a 4.3 GPA. This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated potential in academics, athletics, leadership and service. As a self-driven learner, I constantly push myself to surpass expectations in all of my classes, including four honors classes. I am a proud member of REquip Soccer, LLS, the Blood Drive Club and CommuniCare where I spend time trying to better my community. I am also a regular volunteer at Blanchet House, a food kitchen for low-income Portland residents.
Ultimately, my goal is to see how far soccer can take me, collegiate soccer and beyond… And I hope that it is now clear, how committed I am to making this goal a reality. I am always looking to improve on my weaknesses, and play to my strengths: passion, vision, hard work, dedication and team spirit. I want to be able to continue to score goals, thread penetrating passes, tackle hard and win games for your school. I am the driven, committed, creative and fearless attacking midfielder that your school needs, and I hope you give me chance to show you everything that I can do.
