Goalkeeping has enriched my life in several ways. It took me a while to discover the position that I succeeded at but i’m glad I found the art of goalkeeping. This position has taught me many things on and off the field, including drive, fortitude, and trust just to name a few. I am a person who strives for perfection on the field and in life. When things don’t go my way I reflect on my mistakes to further myself and the team. I do what it takes to succeed and I take failures as learning experience. I’ve had to teach myself that no one can be perfect and mistakes are necessary for growth. How else would you learn?
I have overcame many obstacles in my own personal life and on the field but I have used them to better myself. Playing as the starting goalkeeper on my school’s boy’s soccer team is one example. Being underestimated is how I push myself to prove others wrong, and that exactly what I did last season.
On the field I feel as if my team is my family. I study how my teammates play and decipher strengths and weaknesses within so I can work extra hard in the areas that are exceedingly important to benefit my team. I like to build strong connections with my defenders so they’re aware of the trust I hope to build throughout the season.
I take direction well and i’m easily coachable. With that being said I still have my own aggressive style of goalkeeping that is valuable to the team. I will put in the work to be the absolute best me I can be for myself, you, and my teammates. I’m looking forward to learning and improving my ability with your help.
