I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and ever since I was younger I have dreamed of competing at the collegiate level. I am a sophomore at North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. I was one of two freshmen on the varsity team at my high school, I played in most games and started a couple. In my freshman year, my team made it to the state playoff tournament but sadly lost in the third round. Now in my sophomore year, I am a starter and play the full game. High school soccer gives me the opportunity to play against tough opponents and teams. It helps me to become a more physical and technical player. High school soccer really opened my eyes to how much I want to play college soccer. Wearing my school’s jersey gives me a sense of pride for my school and I would love to support a college.
I have played for Pennsylvania’s Rush Soccer Club for the past five years. I have developed as a strong defensive player due to the great coaching staff. On my club, my primary position is outside defense but my secondary position is center defense. At times, I play a defensive holding mid. Playing outside defense gives me a thrill which is what I love about the game. Making overlapping runs up the sideline and playing through balls fills me with such joy. I will throw my body into any tackle and I am always competing for the ball. On my club team, I have formed a strong bond with my teammates and I would do anything for them on the field.
I have played for Eastern Pennsylvania’s Olympic Development Program for two years now. This team challenges me because the competition is top notch, which makes me a better player. I have learned how to defend strong offensive players and how to better position myself in a defensive situation. The coaching staff has really helped bring my game to the next level. Making this team is a big accomplishment for me because over eighty girls tried out and only around forty girls make the team.
At North Penn High School, I also run winter and spring track. I compete at the varsity level. I run mid-distance which helps my endurance during soccer. Track has helped make me a faster player on the field which allows me to make offensive runs up the sideline. I also run sprints at track which helps me to outrun other offensive players.
When I am not playing soccer or running track, I am studying. I am a straight-A student who takes all honor classes and has had Distinguished Honors for the past four years. My favorite class is Spanish and I hope to continue it throughout high school. I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society where I do service hours to give back to my community.
Playing Division 1 soccer is a huge goal of mine that I hope to accomplish. A lot of work comes with that and I am ready to put the work in. I think I would be an excellent candidate because I love being on a team. I have been playing sports since I was three years old and having the ability to be a part of a team makes the sport even better. I love watching my teammates play and cheering them on. I am a hard worker and always give 100% in everything I do. I take everything seriously even when others goof off so I can get the most out of every practice. I can’t imagine life without playing soccer or being a part of a team.
