Personal Statement

I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. I started playing goalkeeper when I was 9 and it has been my primary position since 2012.

During my time playing goalkeeper, I have learned that I need to always be active, even if I’m not directly involved in the play. Since I am playing behind my team, I can better see plays develop and help direct my team and take on a leadership role. I practice hard and I play hard so I give my best effort to my team. I have also learned that there is always room for improvement and I appreciate when my coaches give me direction on how to play my position better.

After high school, I want to attend college to study accounting and, even though an education is my main focus, I would also love to play soccer for the college I attend.

I am involved in my school’s ARK (Acts of Random Kindness) Club, which conducts activities and projects to help cheer up fellow students, and Cure Finders, which raises funds and awareness for those affected by cancer.

Training

Elite Goalkeeping Academy

Three full days of training aimed at a high level goalkeeper who is playing at regional level. Must be able to cope with the physical, technical, tactical, and mental demands of an advanced, professional camp and want to go to the next level. Led by Mick Payne, a full UEFA "A" badge holder in both outfield and goalkeeping, plus the official England FA "C" goalkeeping coach. For three very successful years he was the head soccer coach at the University of Alabama at which time he also served as an adviser to the U.S. Olympic Development Program.

Our training goals are to educate and train goalkeepers of all abilities to get them to their next level (club, high school, and college). We will test all students’ abilities and guide them through the essential techniques required to be a successful goalkeeper. In doing so, we challenge every student physically while instilling a more sophisticated understanding of this unique position. Training topics include foot skills, service, body shape, catching at all height levels, low ball diving, medium ball diving, crosses/highballs, angle play, distribution, and communication. Erik Eisenhut is the owner and head trainer of GK Icon Pittsburgh. In 2016, Erik joined the Point Park University women’s soccer coaching staff as the head goalkeeper coach and first assistant. Since 2015, Erik has served as a goalkeeper coach for the Western Pennsylvania Olympic Development Program and is the former Director of Goalkeeping with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Erik has his National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA.com) and National Goalkeeping Coaching Diploma, his NSCAA National Coaching Diploma
