Ava Schaafsma '23 Recruiting Profile

Soccer has been my favorite sport since I was 4. I grew up watching my 3 older siblings play, and I started playing when I was 6. Soccer was mostly something fun to do on the side of school with my friends until I reached the middle school level.  Once I was in middle school, it became clear that soccer meant more to me than just a hobby. I began to consider playing in college when I was 13. I had no experience playing club and I knew that I had to work hard to accomplish this new goal. After realizing this dream, I threw myself into the sport by practicing 5 or 6 times a week for 2-3 hours a day in the off season. I had always loved soccer, but I now have a newer and greater love for the game. Soccer has brought me so much joy along with teaching me to be patient and encouraging with myself. I would make a good asset to any team since I am an aggressive and speedy player, I am eager to learn, and I am willing to work hard for what I know that I can accomplish. I still have more growth to accomplish, experience to be gained, and more skills to master, but I know that when I set my mind to something I will achieve it.
