My name is Ava Wert, and I am the starting Goal Keeper for the 2004 ECNL Pittsburgh Riverhound’s Developmental Academy Girl’s team. This is what I bring to my team:
While my stature may be 5’6” – my play and heart for the game is like 6’! I am a leader from the back of the field, and work hard to direct and help my defense. When not between the posts I am up top as a striker, aggressively working to get any body part on the ball to help my team get a goal. One of my favorite parts of the game is beating a team that was favored to win, when we surprise the other team, and my team and I rose to the occasion and did what we knew we could. We played like a “Riverhound”.
I’m looking for a school with a strong emphasis on academics, where the coach is a leader for me on and off the field, where the school and team environment is positive, and where excellence is expected and the ability to reach it is taught. My hope is that I can find a school that is invested in me as a student, as a soccer player, and most importantly as a person.
