My aspiration is to complete my masters degree in the field of chemical engineering. My favorite subjects are my math and science courses as I love to solve complex, real world problems. One of my favorite pastimes, outside of playing sports, is solving puzzles like Sudoku and playing chess with my grandfather. I would love to eventually find a way to use my degree to find a drug to cure cancer.
One of my distinguishing traits is my bright red hair which has provided me with the fond nickname of "Red". Given to me by my varsity basketball coach in 5th grade, the name has stuck ever since. Though I am a dual sport athlete, soccer has been my long time favorite. I have been playing since I was five years old. I started out as a keeper then transitioned to sweeper and eventually to defensive mid. My strongest skills is my ability to read and react to the play and my ability of a strong and accurate kick. I have scored goals from 35 to 40 yards out. I also have a strong and accurate corner kick which has helped our team win critical games. I still play as a third stringer keeper for my club team. I recently help my team win the Beach Blast Tournament in Wildwood, NJ as keeper. Due to my size and strength I am used to mark players, but my ability to stay calm and level headed while marking those players allows me to effectively do my job. I am not afraid to use my head to take possession of 50-50 balls in the air, with my height giving me an added advantage.
Though my soccer career has been successful, it has not been without injury. I have suffered from concussions, from which I have fully recovered, but it has made me appreciate being able to play. To find other outlets during recuperation, I have helped coach younger athletes. I also volunteer for events in my community, and have a part-time job. I believe that my skill sets will make me a benefit to the school and your soccer program.
