Hi! I’m Patricia Redondo and I’m a Senior in high school and will graduate in 2023. I play center mid-field for the Puerto Rico Caribbean Stars FC at Division 1 in the Puerto Rico Soccer League (Over 20 yrs - Superior Elite League). I can also play winger on both sides. Also, I play with the South Central Pennsylvania Academy 04G, as my Travel Team. I’ve been playing soccer since I was 3 and I can say that it is a big part of my life. I admire the team and trust aspect on the sport and the dedication and discipline that is needed. I played for the Surf Puerto Rico soccer club for almost two years and participated in several showcases and ID Camps for the Surf Select Program and it was an amazing experience. I have played five years for GPS Puerto Rico and have gone to multiple GPS camps that I was invited to. I also played in my former school’s, Academia Maria Reina, team since 7th grade. I was captain of the Indoor/Futsal team in 9th grade. I received the Spirit Award. I’m also very blessed to be part of the Puerto Rico National Team U14 to play CFU (Caribbean Football Union - Part of the CONCACAF Confederation) International Tournament and U15 Girls National Team. Also, through the GPS National Program, I’ve been part of the PR National U16 Team and represent my country. Actually, I’m part of the PR National Team U17 Pool players. I played in the Commonwealth-Parkville High School Varsity team and received the MVP award last year. This year, I will be Team Captain.
Academically, at this moment, I received a very special recognition by the College Board and was the National Hispanic Scholar Award. During my Senior year, I am the President of the National Honor Society. Also, I’m the Vice-President of the Comet’s Athletic Club, which I was one of the club founders. I’m a straight A’s student and have balanced the workload with soccer my whole life. I’m a true student athlete. I take mentally demanding classes as well as extra credit courses. I’ve been able to balance these and give excellent performance in each, which is what I intend to do in college.
My career of choice is through biology, leaning more into medicine. I’m very passionate about the human life and finding out ways to help us as a species. I’m immensely interested in this topic and hope to have soccer by my side through those years.
In the field, I’m very versatile and open to decisions. I can adapt to any game situation. I take some risks when attacking, trying to find an open window for anyone in my team, including me, to score. I have been told that I make exceptional decisions in the field and that I don’t play a monotonous game. In the center, I can see every corner of the field and visualize plays that I think will help us outplay the opponent. Obviously I cannot so this alone, for I need the collaboration of my whole team in order to make plays work. That is what I praise about this sport, you need people to push you to become better and succeed.
