My name is Grayson Newton and I am in 9th grade at DW Daniel High School in Central, SC. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. Since I first stepped on the field, I have aspired to play soccer both at a collegiate and professional level. I value honesty, straightforwardness, feedback, grit and dedication.
I am driven, competitive, passionate and dedicated both academically and athletically. I do not want to be known as an average student or player, so I push myself every day. I have strong ball handling skills, mental toughness, high soccer IQ, and I play strong and physical defense. I have been told by my coaches that I am a very positive, coachable, and a technical player who is dynamic and creative on the ball. I am also known as a utility player because I can play multiple positions.
I work hard on soccer year around by participating in ODP, Club soccer, Soccer ID camps, training with my personal soccer trainer, and independent training. I was named team captain of my club soccer team in 2019 and have been able to maintain that title. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates as well as pushing my younger sister to be a better player than me.
In the classroom, I work hard and stay focused. I was inducted into the Beta Club in 6th grade, and I have been able to maintain this status. I received the Most Valuable Player and Social Studies awards at RC Edwards Middle School last year. I volunteer at our local Community Care and church. I played basketball for both RC Edwards Middle and Clutch (travel team). I was named captain, MVP and Offensive MVP of the basketball team this past season! It is pretty cool to see how the two sports are so similar. I look forward to trying out for DW Daniel Varsity Soccer team this coming year.
When my high school career is over, I plan to go to college, play soccer and be known as an excellent student and team leader/player. I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the soccer field at a competitive level. I aspire to a great role model and leader to my peers and siblings. I also hope to play professional soccer one day.
