I am an excellent recruit for a college soccer team because of my character, athletics, and academic standing.
As an athlete, I have participated in both varsity high school soccer and club soccer at a high level. I started playing soccer when I was ten years old and have been dedicated to the sport ever since. I have been recognized as an MVP during several seasons and have received coaches awards for outstanding performance.
As a student, I have maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout high school. I have taken multiple honors and AP classes, including Human Geography and US History. I was successful in honors English and Chemistry. I plan on continually challenging myself in college. I believe these classes have taught me the importance of organization, strong study skills, and responsibility.
My aspiration is to be a collegiate athletic trainer, helping students to achieve their maximum potential and maintain peak performance. To reach this target, I have several goals. First, I plan on focusing on how athletes and trainers interact on a college team. This will help me view trainers through the eyes of the clients I will eventually service. Second, I will seek internships throughout college with trainers at colleges and other institutions. Third, I will volunteer in other sports settings at the college I attend.
My main strength of character is my leadership skills and sportsmanship. As a goalkeeper, it is my responsibility to provide leadership to my teammates. It is important that my team trusts my judgment because of the fast moving pace of the game. It is my job to make sure that my teammates are in the correct positions at all times. My leadership roles extend beyond the soccer field. As an active member of the National Beta Club, I took a leadership role in fundraising activities at my high school. I chaired the committee that helped provide families in need with Thanksgiving dinner. As a result of our efforts, more than 50 families were able to sit down for Thanksgiving dinner.
I also possess a high level of sportsmanship. My coach and other parents have often commented on my ability to stay clear-headed and calm in heated situations. I pride myself in my capacity to be the peacemaker and to help my teammates demonstrate sportsmanlike behavior on the field. For example, I have often been able to diffuse heated moments between members of mine and the opposing team. This skill has been recognized by coaches, parents, and bystanders.
