My name is Amanda Herrera, I am seventeen years old and I'm from El Paso, Texas. There are many things I love to do, but the one I am most passionate about is soccer. It is something I have been doing ever since I was a little girl, and I can't imagine my life without it. I feel playing soccer makes me the best person I can possibly be. It makes me try my hardest in the classroom to ensure that I can continue playing throughout my high school season. Not only does it keep me focused in school, but it helps keep my priorities in perspective. I need to stay healthy in order to perform at my best during every practice and game. I also keep in mind that I have little cousins and I try to set a good example for them at all times. To me, nothing would make me feel prouder than knowing I am being a role model by being a college athlete.
It has always been a dream of mine to play college soccer. I’m 5’4’’ (not the tallest player) but I guarantee I work just as hard, if not harder. I don’t let my height hold me back. I believe I would make a good addition to a team because I am an extremely hard worker. I push myself to my limits every time I step on the field and I try to keep my teammates going when they want to stop as well. I like to lead by example, and I always try to keep myself and my team going in the right direction. I love being the first one on the field and the last to leave, I take advantage of every opportunity I have to be touching the ball or doing something that will help improve my level of play.
Not only have I always wanted to be a college student and athlete but I would love to receive a scholarship. My parents have helped me so much, from spending countless hours watching my play, paying training and tournament fees and sending me to many different places to get the exposure I need. I feel I owe it to them and myself to earn a scholarship.
