It was a hot Texas summer day and were losing 2-0. I saw that my teammates were down and discouraged, I was down and discouraged, but then I realized that in order to ever win or accomplish something you have to WANT it. I asked the girls during half time to sit with me in a circle and I asked each one of them do you want this and each said yes. We all wanted it so we all had to work hard for this. This was not an ordinary game this was a final, the best of the best were going up against each other. I told them that we had to want it more than anything in the world and we had push for it, and that’s exactly what we did and brought home the trophy. That’s when I realized that I could be a leader. That I could encourage my teammates to push and fight to the very end. This is one of the qualities that I feel sets me apart from other players. I love this sport and that is contagious. Defeat doesn’t discourage me it does the exact opposite, something that others lack. I work very hard at everything that I do. Having two older sisters in college I have bars that I have to surpass and set high for my younger brother. This is what I do on the field. I score one goal in one game I raise my bar to two. I can juggle for x amount of minutes I raise the time. I am not trying to be better than others because I know that there will always be someone better than me but I always try to beat my own goals to set new ones. And that devotion, dedication, leadership, and ambition are what I can bring to the table. Any soccer player can juggle a ball, shake a player, run like the wind, and shoot penalty kicks, but I have learned that it takes a very special player to be a leader, I am a leader.
