Growing up in a household with highly successful parents who accomplished the unthinkable, I from a very young age set high expectations of myself. How could I not, with a world championship trophy sitting on my mantle? With my never ending energy, I quickly found a love for soccer and never looked back. Through the years, I took on many daunting tasks and this sport taught me that I was able to handle anything that came my way on and off the field, from sliding scars to losing family.
I was captain for three seasons and I quickly learned through my leadership that you never have to own the title of captain to be a leader, it comes from the heart. Sometimes the greatest leaders are the ones without the title or recognition or accolades. I don't let anything stop me and my ambitions, once I have my heart set on anything it's mine; Even if I don't get it I'm rewarded in other ways that are even better.
My goals for college is to continue with my impeccable academic record and hold onto my 4.0 GPA. I aspire to go into Biochemistry as my major and in the future hope to become a Pediatric oncologist. Not only do I want to hold myself to high expectations, but I also want to have fun and enjoy my college experience by continuing my soccer career and graduating as a student athlete.
I’ve had plenty of things happen to me in the past that put roadblocks in my path, however, I don’t let that prevent me from doing my very best. Instead I use that as fuel to continue bettering myself as an athlete, person, and student. To become better everyday I must remember what I’m working towards instead of what held me down before.
What makes me a standout athlete is that I acknowledge I’m very well rounded and continue to become more involved in any way I can. There isn’t a waking moment I spend where I’m not working to uphold my 101.75 GPA, pushing myself in cross country or soccer, or giving back to my community through projects such as developing an air purification system, tutoring, or serving the homeless. There isn’t a day where I’m not giving a 110%. I am excited for the challenges that the future holds and hope that I will have the opportunity to continue my soccer career by playing at the college level.
