Marissa Heyward '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello,

My name is Marissa Heyward and I am currently a student at Legacy Early College High School located in Taylor, TX.  I will be graduating in the year 2023. It is a school in which I will be able to not only graduate with my High School Diploma but I will also be graduating with an Associates Degree from Temple College. Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to attend a great college and get a great education.  I started my sports career when I was 4 years old when I first participated in Taekwondo. I achieved Black Belt Level 2 and became an instructor at the age of 8.  When I turned 9 years old, I decided to focus more on soccer.  I started my soccer career at the age of 4 and began playing Junior Academy Soccer for Lonestar in Austin, TX. When I was 9, I moved to my first select soccer team. I have played the position of Goalkeeper my whole career and feel that I have developed both physically and mentally for the position. My character is defined as hard working, a great teammate and a leader.  Academically so far, I have taken Algebra 1 and English 1 and I am currently taking  advanced Chemistry, Algebra 2, and English 2. I am currently taking  2 college classes. I was a member of the National Junior Honor Society when I was in middle school as well.  I was also the President of my Spanish club and I was a percussionist in the Wind Ensemble (the top band for my middle school). I am currently taking robotics 1. I have played Select Basketball and have participated in Basketball, Soccer and Track and Field for the Taylor Middle School.  I am currently a member of the Sting Austin Soccer Club and we play in the ENCL-RL league.  In my first year of High School, I joined the Art Club. I feel that I am a great person, a good athlete and a natural born leader. I feel that any coach looking for these traits and is willing to give me an opportunity will not be disappointed.
