Throughout both athletics and academics, I have always been driven to succeed. One of my greatest strengths is my desire to learn and ability to take feedback.
This is especially true on the field. Coming into my ninth grade year (2020 HS season), I was determined to make the varsity girls soccer team. I dedicated the summer to working toward it, and the work prevailed. As I broke out of my shell and began developing a level of comfort with the team, I made it clear that I was a vital asset. Beginning the season as starting left defensive wing, I was quickly moved to take the position as center back. I became a leader on the field, and a spokesperson for my teammates.
Confidence is key. This has been one of my greatest struggles throughout my soccer career. My 2021 Addison United club team has been an extremely significant influence in building my confidence levels. The coaches drilled "the three C's" into my mind (Confidence, Communication, and Creativity), and this alone has helped me to grow immensely. In my high school season of 2021 I was faced with a lot of mental blocks that did not allow me access to my full potential. The dynamic of our team seemed to eb and flow as we were faced with challenge after challenge. But it was with this that we were able to grow. We faced one of the toughest schedules for our division (II), playing several high ranking DI schools. Despite having only won a singular game the previous year (2020 HS season), we found our way to the DII semifinals in the 2021 season. I contributed both at center back, left offensive wing, and occasionally left defensive wing, serving as the most versatile player on the team. I can one hundred percent credit my newfound confidence to my success as a player. Without this, I never would have even experienced playing a forward position, nor been the leader that I became as center back. Rounding out the season, I made the Lake Division 2nd Team. The challenges that I have faced have allowed me to gain a more positive perspective, and become a more uplifting leader.
I am looking for a team that is supportive and elevating. I am highly motivated to succeed, and am willing to do what it takes to get to where I need to be. I am also looking for a school that will best fit my needs academically, as I look toward the longterm future. It is important to me that I am challenged both on the field and in the classroom.
Thank you for all your hard work!
