I am 16 years old and I am currently a junior at Rockbridge County High School (RCHS). I am on the varsity soccer team and the varsity swim team. I have been a member of both teams since my freshman year. I was also a starter for the JV soccer team my 8th grade year. Being a successful athlete is an important part of my high school career. As I approach my senior year, I would like to find a college where I can continue to thrive as a student athlete on a soccer team.
As a freshman, I scored 3 goals and had 5 assist for the RCHS Varsity team. I finished my sophomore season with 9 goals and 13 assists and I am just starting my junior season now. I was named 2nd Team All-District my freshman year and 2nd team All-Conference. As a Sophomore, I was selected to the 2nd team All-District and 1st All-Conference. I have played club soccer since I was old enough to make a team. I have played in the Soccer Organization of Charlottesville-Albemarle (SOCA) and Rockbridge United Soccer Club (RUSC). I was on the ODP Regional team my Freshman year.
I did not start swimming until my sophomore year. My sophomore and junior year I qualified for states. Both years I swam on the 200 free relay and also the 200 IM relay. My 200 free relay placed 6th in the state meet. This season my best event was the 50 free with a time of 26.54. This year was the first year I swam the 100 fly, with a best time of 1.11, and qualifying for Regionals.
I am an active member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. I serve as secretary for the Spanish Honor Society. I am on the Executive student council and in charge of generating school spirit. I am currently running for vice-president of the executive council. I enjoy volunteer work. I am member of Project Connection, which is a non-profit organization that connects teens with children in the community who have disabilities. In addition, I am volunteer basketball referee for Rockbridge Area Recreational Organization Youth programs.
I am a strong student with a 4.2 GPA. I am currently ranked 17th out of 225 in my class. I have worked very hard to obtain this GPA overcoming my challenges with Dyslexia. As a student athlete, I have learned to work hard and manage my time carefully. I have not decided on a major, but I am considering a major in mathematics or business. I want to enroll in a school with strong academics where I can also play soccer. I typically play wide midfield and sometimes outside back. I am open to playing a different position at the college level. I am very competitive and enjoy sharing my competitiveness with my team.
