Katie Emery '11 Recruiting Profile

Hi! I am a 5 10 goalie and I want to play soccer in college. Since grade school I have played soccer and volleybal but decided my junior year to concentrate on just soccer. I based this decision on two reasons. First, I found I have a greater passion for playing soccer and second, my physical attributes are better suited as a goalkeeper. My experiences playing volleyball have only complimented and improved my skills for soccer. I have played recreational soccer since I was 6 and select soccer teams and club volleyball teams since I was 11. Since the age of 14 I have played up on U-18 soccer teams. My first two years in high school, I played volleyball and continued to play indoor and select soccer. Once deciding to play soccer fulltime, I proceeded to tryout and make starter goalie for Mt Spokane High School my junior year. That year, (2009) our high school team won its first league championship , finishing the season with a record of 14-2 and qualifying for state. Even though we are a 3A school we play 4A schools in the GSL. I finished the season with six goals scored against me in 16 games with 8 shutouts. I was voted All League Honorable Mention. My Senior year, we won 3A districts and regionals and went to State. I was voted MVP for 2010. I am playing with SCC Premier Elite U18/19 club soccer team I feel I have the potential to play goalie for a Division I or II team and be an impact player. I am a hard worker, learn quickly and look forward to continue learning and growing in my abilities in this position. In addition to soccer, I take my school work seriously and have maintained a 3.8+ GPA which includes AP and Honor classes. I am looking for a college atmosphere that is positive and challenging and where I can grow as an athlete, a student and as a person.
