Hello my name is Ava Fox. I am extremely passionate about soccer. I have been playing since the age of three. I’m eager to grow and learn from others. My hardworking ethics and skill have allowed me to play levels above my age group for many years. These experiences had given me the opportunity to work with many diverse levels of skill and different styles of play. I prefer playing in the Midfield but I’m flexible in the positions I play. Stepping in where my team needs me most, is important to my team’s success and my personal accomplishments.
I played on both coed and girls’ teams from the age of 3-12 for Hustisford in the KMLS Recreation League. I also practiced and played indoor soccer with the Hustisford High School team at Marion College since 7th grade during their off season.
At the age of 13 I felt I wanted more of a challenge than than a rec team, so I moved to Strike FC Wisconsin Club Team. Throughout my first season with them I worked hard, on and off the field to grow my skills. My hard-work and commitment gave me the opportunity to move up a full level at the age of 14 to a starting position for U16. I also continued to be a guest player for the Hustisford United U18 team.
I have enjoyed playing with my teammates and the development the coaches gave me at Strike FC Wisconsin. The program went through some major changes after Covid and before the tryouts for the 2021-2022 season and felt it was time to look at different programs for more personal growth. I was offered a position with Elmbrook United Elite team and honored to work with such skilled athletes where we continue to push each other to be our best. I also playEd with the Olympic Development Program and travel with the Super Y League for the Milwaukee Torrent in the summer with some of my teammates from Elmbrook.
I go to Oconomowoc High School where I play varsity soccer and played JV basketball. I play for the varsity soccer team and lettered as a freshman in the Division 1, Classic 8 Conference. I'm excited to take on more of a leadership role, with it being a young team. As import as soccer is to me, school is my top priority. I am competitive in everything I do, and school is no exception. Maintaining a 4.08 GPA is something I strive to maintain. I challenge myself with the Honors and AP classes I take. As important as playing in college is to me, I recognize that my academics are going to help me get into the college of choice and allow me to study in my preferred field, Doctor of Physical Therapy.
I also enjoy being apart of the DECA club. This opportunity has allowed me the experiences of being a room leader for adopt a school, compete at the districts level, be a Service Associate for the State Career Development Conference and raise money for MDA and the Lake Country Free Clinic with Grilling 2 Give. I also accepted a leadship role as competition coordinator. Each of these occasions challenged me to step out of my comfort zone while further opening my eyes to the needs of my community and the impact one person can make.
If I’m not busy with school or working, you will find me on my small communities soccer fields. Helping as an assistant coach for a U9 coed and U10 girls’ teams. This has given me a different perspective of the game and has helped grow my leadership and communication skills on different levels. I’m also currently working on getting my Grassroots License. Besides playing and coaching I'm a certified referee as well.
In my down time I’m usually on the sidelines supporting friends from other teams and observing techniques to learn and grow from. I believe you learn just as much from playing in a game as you do from watching it.
