I first became interested in the world of sports at the ripe old age of 3, I joined the local gymnastics club. I competed with them for 2 years and learned a lot about how to be a coachable person and the dedication it takes to be an athlete. By the age of 6 I join the city's club level Soccer team and instantly fell in love with the sport. I love the competitiveness and the team comradery that you build. Some of my greatest friends have been made playing soccer. I continued to play club level and singed up for every camp they offered for 4 years. At the age of 11 I tried out for the city's competitive soccer team and was elated when I received the call to be accepted. At this time I was also play Basketball, Volley Ball and Running Track with the school team. As well as playing the flute in band and violin in orchestra. This year of my life tough me a lot about the importance of being a Student-Athlete. I was constantly bouncing between practice, games and school. I loved having to be constantly on the go and finding what ever free time I could to get my school work done, at the end of the School year I found out I had all A's and it was possible to do everything I loved and not have one area of my life suffer. Unfortunately the Soccer Coach that I had at the time did not like me, not because I wasn't a good player but because I wasn't in his daughters friend group and I got very little play time during games. The favoritism he showed to the select group killed my vibe for the game of soccer. I continued with Volley Ball, Basketball and Band into Junior High. I was also taking all Honor's classes, I was accepted into National Junior Honor Society and we brought home the 1st place City Champion trophy for Basketball. Starting 8th grade I drop volley ball, realizing I didn't have the same passion for it as I did basketball and band. I joined a traveling Club team for Basketball and we won 3 first place medals, and 2 second place medals my first summer with them. My coach had me play every position on the court to find out what was the best fit for me and to his surprise learned that I can play any position he put me in with out a problem. Going into my first year of High School my friends invited me to join DECA and after a few meeting I found a passion for competing in that and brought home 4th place at state as a freshman. I continued to play my flute for marching band and concert band. I have also played the tenor sax and have began to learn the piano. I joined Basketball in the winter season and played both Freshman and Sophomore level helping the team bring home 3rd place in our state tournament. After basketball I wasn't sure if I wanted to play soccer again or try softball, my friends talked me into giving soccer another chance and not letting that one coach ruin it for me. As soon as I hit that field in my cleats it was like I had never left. My passion for the game returned and I knew that I was at home and meant to be on that soccer field. I played for both JV and Varsity teams as we had low numbers. In the JV games I played as the Goalie, and as Varsity I played where ever the Coach needed me. One game that I will always remember he had me in Goal for one half and the second half I was on the field as a forward, right wing, mid defender, left wing and rear defender. This is when I realized that no matter where on the field I am put, I can hold my own, play the position that is needed and it doesn't matter the position as long I am playing I do my best and enjoy ever second of it. Although we did not win a single game all season, I still feel like it was a winning season for me personally as I now have more confidence in my self not only as an Athlete but also as a Student and Person. Looking forward to College I want to study Pre-Med and become either a Occupational Therapist or Emergency Room Doctor. Playing Soccer at the College level would just be the Icing on top of the Cake.
