Choosing a school with great academics to build a successful future is important to me, but swimming is my true passion! I took my first swim lesson with my mom when I was just six months old and continued with YMCA lessons until I turned four and followed one of my friends to a local swim club. It was awesome! The week I turned five, I joined USA Swimming and never turned back. The passion those first coaches had for the sport, and instilled in me, will last a lifetime. Making the Central Zone team during a MegaZone year, swimming three Open Water Zone Championships, and placing 2nd and 4th at the High School State Championships during my freshman year were all highlights for me.
One obstacle I have encountered is that I have not had as many best times as I would have hoped since that first High School Championship, but I have stayed dedicated and committed to a consistent training schedule and know that first Olympic Trials cut is in my future! That same commitment is evident in my academics as well. School does not come as easy to me as it does for some people and I may not have the highest GPA in my recruiting class, but I have stood solid in my goal of getting to college and being invited to join their competitive swim program. I have been fortunate to attend a National Blue Ribbon school with a rigorous college prep curriculum that I feel has ultimately provided me with an academic experience based on faith and community service that as a person and a teammate sets me apart from others. You will recognize this when you meet me!
