Every part of my multi-faceted and well-rounded life has given me the tools I have needed to persevere in swimming. I am so thankful for all of the experiences my parents have provided for me and encouraged me in. They have allowed me to discover that swimming is my true passion. Through my homeschool education, I discovered that I have the ability to master things very quickly and have often been referred to as an overachiever. Some of the experiences that have contributed to my "never give up" attitude is as follows.
I have spent the last 10 years singing with the world-class Phoenix Girls Chorus, where I have personally raised over $50,000 dollars for the choir. This achievement has afforded me the ability to tour around the world with the choir. These tours have included singing at Carnegie Hall in New York, Disneyland and Universal Studios in California, St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, Louisiana, an International Music Festival in Wales, UK, a week-long Cathedral singing tour of Ireland, and an International Choral Festival in Missoula, Montana. I enjoy being a part of a team, whether it be singing with the choir, swimming with my club team, or swimming with my high school team. My teammates can be very encouraging and often help push me to be the best I can be.
I became interested in swimming when I was just a toddler. I started swimming on a summer recreational team when I was only 4 years old. My parents noticed that I was very dedicated to improving, so they enrolled me in year-round club swimming. My times improved tremendously when I joined a club team. As I started into my teens I became more interested in what it might take to get a scholarship for college with swimming. Since I am extremely competitive and determined, I decided to make it my goal to find out what it would take to be a collegiate athlete. When I set a goal, I absolutely have to hit it. A huge benefit of being homeschooled is that I have more time to focus on my studies and extra time to have amazing opportunities. My God-given ambition spurs me on to become better at everything I do. I want to attend the right college for me, that will give me the most successful future, swim at the collegiate level, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
I rose to the occasion my freshman year of high school swimming by quickly becoming the fastest girl on the team, swimming freestyle & breaststroke. As a freshman, I was thrilled to qualify for state with my 200 freestyle relay team. As a sophomore, I was the fastest on the Deer Valley High School Swim Team in all strokes and had the opportunity to swim at state in my individual events. At State, I placed 13th in the 100 Breastroke and 19th in the 100 Freestyle. This year, as my Junior year, I placed 13th in the 100 breast, and 15th in my 100 free all while improving my times!
When it comes to furthering my education, I am looking into majoring in Exercise Science. When attending college, I will continue to develop my leadership skills and natural talents by involving myself in extracurricular organizations and by continuing to pursue an avenue in which I can further develop my musical aptitude, such as a piano performance minor.
I am striving to live a life I love, a life of encouraging others while achieving great success and fulfillment for me. I believe that being a collegiate athlete will give me amazing work ethic skills that will increase my ability to be successful in all areas of my life! Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you consider pursuing me in your recruiting process.
