My name is Kodi Wiman I have been competitive swimming since the age of 8. My two primary goals are to excel in the sport of swimming and maintain a high academic standard. I am dedicated to making this journey as interesting and exciting as possible. I love the competition and team based environment. One of the highlights at swim meets for me is being on the podium with my teammates. This may sound weird to some but I like to hurt in the water because that's how I know I am improving. One of the things that I love is looking at the board and seeing a ridiculously hard set and knowing that I am going to go in and rip my arms off, I love the feeling before and I love the feeling after. I would love to be a part of a swimming legacy and contribute to a national championship.
When Covid-19 hit in March of 2020, we knew nothing about what the future would hold. I told my coach I will swim in my bathtub, little did I know that that would lead to swimming in the lake in April when it was 10 degrees celsius outside and the lake was 5 degrees celsius. It was freezing but it was the only way I could swim. A group of my friends and I started a training program we did from March until August. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings we would swim in the lake, Tuesday and Thursday mornings we would run and then do a gym workout, Sunday mornings we would ride and Saturdays we would go on hikes. That became our normal, and we worked hard, we pushed each other and we did what we could with what we had. I am a strong, dedicated, and passionate athlete that pushes others to improve and thrives on hard work.
Full send, sweat, and smiles. My motto. What I live by. Full send means give everything you do 100% of your effort and do everything with immense passion and drive. Sweat. Work my butt off, push myself to places I've never been, and the drive to achieve my wildest dreams. Smiles. Everything you do in life is always better with a smile, and a smile may turn around someone else's day, put a smile on their face when they didn’t think that would. I make it one of my goals to have some sort of positive impact on everyone I meet even if it’s the smallest, smiling at someone in the street, could influence that person to have a better day. I am always smiling, because it makes me happy.
