My name is Leela James, I am 16 years old, and I have been swimming for about 7 years. I am a varsity swimmer at Castaic High School, and I am on a club team called Paseo Aquatics. Before I started swimming on a team I played soccer for 4 years, and I also did Spartan races competitively for a couple of years. I started to learn how to swim when I was 8 years old, and I picked it up really quickly. After I learned how to swim, I then joined a local swim team. After I joined the team, I fell in love with the sport. I liked being in the water and I especially love the swim meets. I am very competitive and dedicated to swimming and I work extremely hard at practices and at meets.
One thing that swimming has taught me is to never give up. If I want new and better times, I have to work extremely hard for it and never give up. I constantly set new goals for myself to make better times and to become a better swimmer. To help myself become a better swimmer I constantly do my best at practices and at meets. I try to make it to as many practices as I can. And I also do dryland practices and use weights to do different exercises for about 2 hours a week.
