Hello All,
My name is Sumer Coxwell. I am 17 y/o and a junior at Culver City High School in Culver City, CA. I am a very determined and hard working athlete. Now you coaches probably hear that all the time and are wondering what will make me different from the rest, well I'm here to tell you. I am different from other candidates in a few ways. One is my mental attitude for swimming. I have only been swimming for 6 years, but I have dedicated my life to this sport, swimming is part of what makes me who I am, without swimming, I wouldn't be who I am today. I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure I can swim all my life. Another quality of mine that makes me different is the different physical struggles I've had to overcome for years.
Everyone has a story, but I believe I have gone through a lot and have pushed through so many injuries and physical ailments and to still be where I am now, to me, that's accomplishing something mentally and physically. I was hospitalized twice and constantly in and out of the ER for severe abdominal pain which led to surgery. I was in pain for almost 7 months and had missed quite a bit of school, but after all that, I am now fully recovered and happier than ever to back at my sport. I also believe my height and physical build gives me an advantage. I am no giant, but I am 5'9", with very low body fat, a very "athletic-looking" body, and long extremities. I know I should swim in college because of these reasons, but I also believe I have good character and morals. I may be a good athlete, but what school wants a good athlete with a terrible personality? I am a very outgoing and likable person. I believe in everyone being their own person and not letting society choose who they are. I have no supermodel's body, but I am accepting of that because I have an athletic body and that is what helps me excel in swimming. I have so much more to say, but this is just a short intro into my life. If you believe I would be a good match for your school, contact me to learn more about myself and if I am a good fit for your school and swim team!
