Hi! I'm Angeline Zhu, an upcoming senior graduating in the class of 2022. Collegiate swimming has been my goal for a long time. Having been on the same team for a decade now, my teammates and I have nurtured each other through healthy competition, friendly encouragement, and team bonding. These experiences taught me the importance of moral support in maintaining motivation, and I plan to spread the same positive reinforcement I grew up with in college swimming and beyond.
I have swam varsity both freshman and sophomore years (although sophomore year was cut off due to COVID-19). During both seasons, I have qualified for the CIF Central Coast Section Championships. Swimming has also taken me to many other meets such as Western Zones and Sectionals. Academically, I maintain an excellent GPA because I know that the balance between academics and sports is crucial. I intend to go into Physical Therapy/Kinesiology/Occupational Therapy in the future. Starting a coaching business with several of my friends has helped me better understand principles of business (if I plan to start my own in the future) and how to communicate to clients about their capabilities. In addition, lifeguarding has taught me how to interact smoothly with adults and children alike, also playing the role of work experience.
Agency is a trait that I have, that I believe makes me unique from many other individuals. It is taking advantage of opportunities available to you, and working hard with purpose. Over time, this shaped my mindset and helped my understand that life is all about action and opportunity.
