I have been swimming since 3rd grade and got the opportunity to be part of a varsity swim team in 6th grade back in my home town, Philippines. I migrated to the USA when I was in the 7th grade. I temporarily continued swim training at the YMCA during my 8th and 9th grade. My current school, Rise Kohyang High School, finally had a swim team during my 10th grade. In our school's first ever swim season, I was given the title team captain as a sophomore. I have trained very hard and was able to finish first place at both girls varsity 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke at the Coliseum League Swim Championship. I was eventually qualified to compete at the LA City Section Swim Finals - City Prelims. I was the first athlete to represent Rise Kohyang High School at any City level competition.
I'm a hard working student athlete. I'm dedicated in maintaining good grades and GPA. I have participated in every end of the year trips, which requires rigorous interviews and meeting high standard requirements to qualify. I'm motivated to excel in swimming and to improve my techniques. I also have my passion in science and art. I help my community by being part of several community groups. I'm part of KYCC group that plants trees and maintain a clean environment. I volunteer in the Food Bank every year by packaging goods for students, senior citizens, people with disability and the less fortunate. I also participate in our school's annual Walk for Water to promote awareness of how important water is and to help countries like Africa who have little water resources. I was also able to exceed our school's minimum requirement of 50 hours of community service every school year.
Overall, I am confident that I'm able to balance my Academics, Passion for Swimming, my extra curricular activities, along with my hobbies and my social life.
