Hi! I am Beanie Mar. I play water polo and swim for my current High School, I also swim for the Sacramento Stingrays/ Sacramento Swim League, and I sometimes swim for a year round for the Sacramento Aquatics Club/Sailfish in the fall. My favorite stroke is currently Butterfly, and I am trying to get really strong so I can compete in the 100 fly. I love the water. I also do Krav Maga off-season for core strength, and I enjoy indoor soccer pick up games during rainy Saturdays during winter. I'm extremely athletic and love being on teams, I go hoarse cheering, and I really strive during relays, I am usually on A relay teams and we are often close to breaking team records!
I'm not just an athlete, I was also one of 35 8th Graders accepted into a specialized Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program at CK McClatchy, my high school. I love drawing, water color and photography.. one of my pieces was selected to be presented in the Crocker Art Museum (but we didn't get to see it because of COVID19 :( ) I am interested in liberal arts schools and my interests are in STEM and the arts. I could see myself as an Ecology Sciences or Marine Biology Major, but I could also see myself as an Art and PE Teacher! I have a deep love of animals, environmental justice, as well as women and children's rights. I am a strong student, and recently finished my freshman year with all A's (Math 2, Bio, Spanish 1, English 9, Ethnic Studies, PE, and Art.) This coming year, sophomore, I will take honors Chemistry, English and History, Spanish II, and continue my art coursework. My goal is to go to college, study and stay active, and become a changemaker. I really want to influence kids and adults into respecting the environment!
