Hi, my name is Isabelle and the three things I love the most are swimming, singing, and legos (and of course family and friends). Until I found swimming I didn't think I was an athlete. Then, my parents put my on a recreational swim team. I got in the water and everything just clicked. Swimming has given me confidence that I didn't know I had, taught me how to work hard for goals, and a love for being on a team. Swimming is also an escape, I often use swim to get away from the stresses of daily life. To me swimming is the best way to clear your head for the rest of the day.
I am a good candidate for your college team because I'm well-rounded, dedicated and a good team player. I'm well round in that I love both the arts and sports, especially swimming and do very well at my academics. I am a vocal major at Denver School of the Arts and spend a 1.5 hours each day in choir and more time in private vocal lessons. I love being part of large choir which is a lot like a team. Everyone has to work together to blend to make the song flow and leave people awed impacting there life. I have gotten a solo performance within my choir and it was really powerful to here my voice projecting over around 100 peoples heads was really powerful and amazing. My choir recently sang at Carnegie Hall in New York City and had an amazing performance. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had.
My performing arts school does not offer sports, so I am allowed to join sports at another high school. Even though joining sports at another school was hard at first, I tried out for the girls swim team at East High School in Denver. I very badly wanted to be on varsity to push myself and prove I could with the best so I swam as hard as I could and made varsity my freshman year. I may not always be the star on the team, but I show up and put in the work to get better and push myself. I am known for being the quiet one that can sometimes surprise people with my swimming out of no where.
The other thing that makes me who I am is that I have a math and engineering mind. I have jumped a grade in math and hope plan to take AP calculus. I also spend lots of time building complex lego structures. I take the complicated pre-designed legos (for 16++) given as gifts and pull them apart to build my own masterpieces. I recently recreated Tony Starks house and laboratory. I will sit tour hours and hours on end just putting pieces together and connecting them I would like to explore engineering, design, or math in college especially within the field of environmental conservation.
I think I make a good candidate for your swim team as I will work hard and push myself to always do my best. I will also be a good student and keep music alive at your college!
