Personal Statement

My name is Kiersten Whitmore and I am a Senior at Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado – graduating in 2020. I was born in Springfield, MO and started my swimming career in the year-round YMCA league in Hamilton, OH at the age of 8. I moved to Colorado in 2011 and worked on my strokes and times, eventually earning placement on a Colorado USA swim league team.  I continued to strengthen my skills on a couple of area USA teams.  I continue to work on my club and high school group placements to push my abilities to the next level.

How am I different than any other swimmer?  I was ‘that’ swimmer in year-round meets who placed last in a race or near it, from the time I was 8 until 12 years old.  All of the years of sticking to it paid off when I started to grow and my hard work started to pay off.  I always stayed dedicated to the sport.

I am also ‘that’ swimmer with a lot of potential – having not started club weight programs yet or double swim practices.   I am dedicated to my sport and eager to work harder and longer to reach that next level of swimming.

I am a swimmer who is focused on my academics, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work. I am particularly proud of my selection to participate in the 2017-2019 Douglas County Leadership Program.  I am that well-rounded swimmer that you are looking for to compete in your program.

The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
