Hello, my name is Emma Noffsinger and I am a junior at Northglenn High School in Colorado. As of May 2020, I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and strive to maintain my high grades. This year I am taking 2 advanced placement (AP) classes as well as Medical Interventions, the third year in the PLTW Biomedical pathway. As it is only the beginning of my junior year, I have not yet taken the SAT or ACT, but will be taking the SAT in April of 2021. In college I am interested in continuing to study biology. As a 16 year old, I do know that my interests may change many times before I graduate college.
I have been swimming for 10 years on Jeffco Hurricanes Swim Team and swam for my high school the past 2 years. I prefer to swim backstroke and shorter distance free, however, I am open to and capable of swimming all other races. During my freshman year, I swam as the backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay and the lead off in the 200 freestyle relay at 5A state. During my sophomore year, I was anchor in the winning 400 freestyle relay at the league meet. During my junior year, I was the EMAC league champion in the 50 free and 100 backstroke.
When looking at my official USA Swimming times, you may notice that I had no major time cuts after 2018. This is because in December of 2018 I suffered a concussion that lasted until around June of 2019. This put a major roadblock in my improvement, however, I am working very hard to regain my full strength and continue to improve both my speed and technique.
You may be asking yourself, why should Emma be a part of our program? Well, I am very hardworking and am always looking for ways to improve. I feel like I am a good teammate and can be a good leader. I may not be the fastest swimmer, but I am committed to improving and being a part of a team. I like both club swimming and high school swimming for different reasons. I enjoy club swimming because I really like the competitive atmosphere and the amount of hard work it takes. Alternatively, I like high school swimming because of the close team bond and fun we have. I am looking forward to college because it will be the best of both worlds.
