My name is Lily Lengerich, and I'm from Salida, Colorado, a small town nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. I have been swimming about 9 years, and I hope to continue swimming in college. The reason I want to swim at the collegiate level is because I want to see my times drop even more than they have. I love the feeling of touching the wall and looking at the clock, only to see that it was a personal best. I also love all the friends a team provides you with. They are your built in family that push you everyday to get better. I thrive in a team environment and work hard in contributing to a team's success. In college, I hope to study Elementary Education. It is so refreshing to see kids excited about school, and to be engaged in what they are learning. I want to be able to provide a place that can nurture that desire to learn, where they can grow their minds. Currently, I am on the track and field team, and I am the varsity setter on the volleyball team. While I enjoy playing these sports and being active within my school, I know swimming is the one for me. I love the individuality of it, yet how in every race, your team is at the end of your lane offering support. I love the feeling of pushing your body until you see results, and I love the feeling you get in your stomach before you step up to the blocks. You can't find these things in any other sport.
