Hi there!
My name is Ella Pape, and I am currently a junior at East Lyme High School, in East Lyme, CT.
I am so excited to be chosen to help your swim team excel! Personal statements are hard for me, as I am the type of person that remains very humble, while lifting up everyone around me. However, I do have a lot of amazing qualities that would make me an excellent candidate for your program.
First of all, I love to swim! I am more comfortable in the water than I am on land!!
I give 150% every time, with everything that I do, and my goal is to be better tomorrow, than I was today. This not only applies in my determination and motivation to be on a collegiate swim team, but also in the day-to-day acts of kindness, patience, academic achievements, and everything else that makes me who I am today.
I grew up in a house with extremely supportive parents, who always taught me to work hard, set goals each and every day, and when I surpass those goals, set higher goals and continue to conquer. They taught me that had work DOES pay off, and I am living proof of this! They showed me how important it is to volunteer in my community, to always give back to those in need, and even those not in need, and to continue to be the best that I can be! I have a 12 year old brother, and my parents recently adopted my newborn baby brother, so I am excited to be a big sister again at nearly 16 years old! Always doing what we can to make the world a better place is my motto, and what I strive for each and every day!
I am currently in multiple honors classes, AP class, and hold a 4.43 weighted GPA. I balance 4 seasons of sports with my studies, and still find time to volunteer at the food shelter, Leo's Club, Peers Reaching Out (PRO) club, and my church organization. I currently work, and also make it a point to find the work/ life balance in spending time with my friends and family.
I am very kind and supportive of others- I don't think that I have a mean bone in my body! I love to study hard, and swim harder! I try to beat my times from yesterday, today, and every day moving forward!
I believe that not only will I be an asset to your team with my continued improving swim times, but also help to show all athletes that you really can have it all- the grades, the sport that you love, and the drive and motivation to be the absolute best that you can be each and every day, all while living the best life possible!
I can't wait for you to meet me in person, and would be honored to be chosen to represent your college.
With sincere gratitude,
Ella Pape
