My name is Madison Russell and I am a 2024 Grad from Aurora, Ontario Canada. I am primarily a Breaststroker, with my secondary strokes being the 200 IM and 400 IM. For my Senior year, I have transferred to The Bolles School in Jacksonville FL and I will be swimming with the Bolles School Sharks.
I have been competitive swimming since I was seven years old. Over years of dedication to the sport, I have broken club records, competed in Provincial, Eastern and National meets, and have been a strong and dedicated leader on my team. This past season, I qualified for Canadian Trials and Canadian Junior Nationals in the 100 Breast with a 1:15.36 LCM. I also qualified for the Canadian Eastern Championships in the 50 Breast, 100 Breast and 200 Breast. Prior to this year, I swam with the Newmarket Stingrays Swim Club and trained an average of 19 hours per week. My strong work ethic allows me to balance a 3.9 GPA; volunteer at my local recreation center; and participate in other recreational sports. For 9 years, I played competitive soccer for the Barrie Soccer Club, and was the captain of my team.
Earlier this year, I helped lead my high school team to becoming OFSAA Champions (Ontario Provincial High School Champions) for the first time in the school’s history, winning Gold in the 4x50 Medley and Silver in the 200 IM. In 2021, I was also a member of my high school soccer team.
Outside of school and athletics, I am a fully trained Lifeguard, having completed various courses such as First Aid, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, and NLS. I have also attended an All-Girls Premier Sports Camp for six summers. There I learned many life skills, including independence, leadership and relationship building. I have made many friends from all over the world.
After high school, my goal is to pursue studies in criminology, criminal law, or psychology; and continue my swimming career with a team where I can add value and continue to grow as a swimmer, as a student and as an individual.
