I have been swimming competitively since I was six years old but that’s not where my love for the water started. Most kids can be timid or scared when it comes to the water but not me. I jumped right in. From the first time I jumped in, everyone knew that the water was where I belonged.
Here are five things I think people should know about me. I am my own biggest critic. I have so much support from all the people around me and they are all so proud of me, but I’m never satisfied. I’m always striving to be better. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied with where I am. I will always want to improve. I am hardworking and determined. I live in a very small town in south Georgia. My team swims outdoors year round. We have even swam in snow flurries before. I would say that’s determination. I work my hardest no matter what. My parents have always taught me what Colossians 3:23 says; “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” I want to make sure that I always do my best for the Lord. I am also very accepting. I love everyone no matter who they are, what their background is, or what they look like. I try to be nice to everyone and bring them up instead of down. I absolutely love being a part of a team. That is my favorite part about high school swimming. I love being able to come together with people that share the same passion as me. It makes me happy to watch people fall in love with swimming like I did.
I love helping people. Helping kids is one of my passions. I get the opportunity to coach the newest swimmers on my team during the summer and I love it. It makes me so happy to be able to help them do what I love. I also love special needs kids. My school lets us volunteer at Special Olympics in March every year and that is by far one of my favorite days of the year. I would love to have more opportunities to spend time with them.
I love all sports and I am very interested in exercise science or nutrition. I will be looking for a college that offers one of these majors and has a good reputation for academics and swimming. I think my hard work, determination, and love for people would make me a great addition to a college team.
