Allende Miglietta '19 Recruiting Profile

Hi! I am Allende Miglietta. As a current lifeguard, competitive swimmer, and future marine biologist, one might say I have a passion for water. I want to be a Marine Biologist because I have always loved the water and marine animals. I am determined to help protect and improve the aquatic environments of the world. I believe my generation is faced with an urgent task of reversing the damage to our environment. I want to help develop and implement scientific solutions to the problems that threaten the survival of our underwater creatures. 

I'm currently a Junior at Kenwood Academy, Chicago Public Schools, where I entered as a seventh grader in the Kenwood Academy Academic Center. My GPA is a 3.6 (out of 4) and my class ranking is 26 out of 364 students in a highly competitive school state-wide. This semester I'm enrolled in a dual credit English 101 class at Harold Washington College.  Just recently, I joined the National Honors Society and was awarded the Award of Excellence from the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists.

My passion for water also includes competitive swimming. I've swam competitively for 5 years, which including 4 years on the Kenwood Academy Girls Swim Team. My swimming goal is to secure qualifying times necessary to contribute to a quality swimming program with a strong biological sciences program. Water has carved its way through many natural wonders including my heart and soul.
