My name is Eydie Bruestle, I am 17 years old and will be graduating in 2024 from Delphi Community High School in Delphi Indiana. I have participated in many different sports, but swimming has always been my first love. I was practically born in the water and might as well have a tail and gills.
Currently I swim for Delphi Community High School. I am one of the most versatile swimmers on the team, being able to do any event, including diving. My favorite events are the 100 Back, 100 Fly, 100 Free and the 200 IM, but I can do anything from the 50 to the 500 with no complaints. I am fiercely competitive and do not like to lose. Currently I am the school record holder for the 100 Back and the 100 Fly, as well as on the record board in the 200 IM Relay (Backstroke) and the 400 Free Relay.
I started swimming competitively at age 5 with the South East Metro Sharks swim club in Woodbury, Minnesota. Over the years I have dipped out of the water to participate in other sports, but have always found my way back into the pool, giving me approximately ten years of competitive swimming experience.
I am interested in swimming at the collegiate level because swimming has always been there for me in times of great joy, anger, and sadness. There is nothing like jumping into the water and being taken into the quiet abyss it provides. Swimming has also created many groups and families that I don’t know what I would do without.
For my senior year and once I am in college, academics will be my number one priority. In college I plan on studying art along with elementary education with the hope to eventually teach kids art and help them find their artistic talents.
