Swimming makes me happy. When I'm swimming all my stress and thoughts disappear. I started swimming club when I was in 8th grade, and the longer I've been a swimmer the more I've loved it. At first I liked just being in the water, but now I enjoy getting better and competing. As I've advanced into high school, my times have continued to improve. As a sophomore, my high school didn't have a team because of COVID, but I still continued to swim. Even though I wasn't practicing with a team or able to compete, I still improved and got state cuts. I learned how to push myself and do my best at every practice - I know what it means to work hard and to meet goals.
Through the summer, I loved practicing with and being part of my club team. Building friendships with my other teammates and pushing each other to do better was a reminder of why I love being part of a team. In college, I look forward to growing as a competitor, to still loving to swim, and to being part of a new team. I want to swim at a school where I can contribute positively as a competitor and as a teammate, while also improving my swimming.
