I have been swimming competitively for 13 years, with countless events, meters, and yards, but here I am after all this time in the water with the passion to continue my aquatics journey into college.
Freshman year, I open enrolled to Washington High school due to its more advanced swim program. Due to open enrolling, I was forced to swim JV freshman year and therefore was not able to swim at state (even though my times easily qualified). During Sophomore year, I swam the 500 Freestyle,100 Breaststroke, relays- Achieving 1st team all-metro as well as first team all- Conference that year. Junior year, I swam the 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 400 free relays, 200 free relay- achieving honorable mention in the 500, as well as First team all- Metro, and all- Conference. My high school team also elected me as most valuable player and for Team Captain for next year. I was chosen by the members of my team because I understand that being part of a swim team is not only what you do in the water or how many points you earn for your team. It is about being a good teammate which means, cheering for all the members of your team, being at the end of the lane with a hug for a best time, or even just being there to talk about what is going on with someone who is going through a rough patch.
When I'm not in High School season, you can find me swimming on E.I.S.F ( Eastern Iowa Swim Federation), the Cedar Rapids USA Swim team. During club, my events are 200 breaststroke, 200 free, 100 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM, and long distance Freestyle. I have Sectional cuts in 100 breast, 200 free, 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 Breast, 500 Free, 1000 free, and the mile. It was at 2017 Short course Sectionals that I rediscovered my breaststroke and began to stand out. Hopefully, this trend continues and allows me to cut a few seconds to get into futures.
I'm looking for medium-sized schools, with professors that know my name. On location, I have no preference. Currently, I'm looking into the science fields- such as biology, medicine, and environmental sciences.
