Hi, my name is Emma Linscott and I come from an athletic family. My brother and sister are both swimmers. Hayden is wanting to swim in college and is currently going through the recruiting process. My mom played golf at Missouri State University and my dad is my biggest fan. He taught me the importance of working hard in everything that I do.
Currently, I am a Junior at Shawnee Mission East High School and was a three-sport letterman (golf, basketball, swim) my freshman and sophomore years. I was forced to learn how to manage my time between sports and school. This year during golf season, my stroke average was an 89. Our team won the State Championship in 2015 and was runner-up in 2016. Our team of nineteen, consisted of eight girls who could break 90 on any given course. Unfortunately, I missed out on going to the State tournament this year. The basketball team is a young team with several multi-sport athletes. My coach called me the “heart” of the team. I was a defensive machine picking up rebounds and causing turnovers. I always listened to Coach and tried to do what she wanted even though I was playing down low against girls who were much taller and bigger than myself. At the 2016 Kansas State Swim & Dive Championships (May 21-22, 2016) I swam a 58.01 in the 100 Fly- good for a 2nd place finish and swam a 2:12.46 in the 100 IM- good for a 4th place finish. These races along with the 200 and 400 Free relays qualified me for 1st Team All State.
I really enjoyed playing on my high school teams. I like the team aspect of playing different sports. However after much deliberation, I decided to focus on swim my junior year. My club swim coach was overjoyed when she heard I decided to do this. She says I am very strong and haven’t tapped my potential in the water.
This past summer I trained for Junior Nationals held in Indianapolis, Indiana. I came very close to getting a Junior National cut in the 100 fly. This Fall I continued my training and began working out with a trainer. I would like to see what I can do in swim and if I can swim in college.
I am a very motivated young lady who loves to have goals to strive towards. I currently have a 4.5 GPA and challenge myself with AP and Honor classes. I am a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, French National Honors Society, and a Class Representative for Pep Club.
