Hi, my name is Gabriela Betancourt I have always loved swimming since I started when I was 4 years old. I started swimming just because I jumped out of my dads' boat when I was 3 then a year later I started swimming. My goal is to become a good Orthodontist and create a donation for kids that are not able to compete, buy their swim equipment, or even join the team because of money. I make a good candidate for the team because I try my best in every practice and try to listen to advice from any kind of coach I meet. I try my best to go to all practices required and I even do dryland to try to get stronger. I've also been to some fitter and faster camps to get advice from other swimmers and get a better technique. What makes me different from other recruits is that I've swum in 2 different teams, one here in Maryland and the other in Puerto Rico since that is where I'm from. Since November 2020 I've been a member of the Pre-Select team in Puerto Rico. I've had the opportunity to qualify and participate in the Puerto Rico International Swim Open (PRISO) in 2019 and 2021 this meet is a national meet between swimmers in North, Latin America, and the Caribbean islands. I've been traveling back and forth to just compete in Puerto Rico and see other swimmers but I study and my main team is in Maryland where I've competed in many high school and club meets.
