My name is Aaliyah and I have always LOVED swimming. I joined my first swim team at 8, after taking swim lessons. It was a local summer swim team, and I really enjoyed being part of a team. To this day, my favorite races are relays! I was 10 when I joined my first year-round swim team. Swimming year-round was an eye-opening experience and it only intensified my love for swimming. Over the years, I have made lifelong friendships, learned how to handle setbacks and strived to be a motivating teammate. My ultimate swim goal and dream has always been to swim for a college team. As a high school Junior, I am proud to say that I was my High School’s Girls Varsity Team MVP for Freshman and Sophomore year. This year, I not only scored the most team points, I received the Coaches Award for character, leadership, sportsmanship and commitment! I have some goals set for my final year of High School and I look forward to continuing to improve in the sport. My High School is a STEM school, and I was selected for a 4-year Biotechnology Program. In college I plan to major in Biotechnology/Biochemistry, with a focus on Biomedicine. Swimming has taught me how to work hard, but also how to be supportive of others. These are things I hope to carry for the rest of my life. I hope to reach all of my academic and athletic goals over the next year of high school and have the opportunity to swim for a college where I can also pursue a career in the Biotechnology/Biochemistry field.
