I want to introduce myself. I’m Lilly Masters, and I just finished my second varsity swim season as a Sophomore at Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. My November 10 birthday makes me the youngest in my entire high school class. Our winter swim season was cut short because of Covid-19, and our summer season is finally getting started.
I want to swim in college. Currently, my best events are the 50, 100 and 200 free, but my 100 back is also strong (and getting stronger).
I’m proud of the progress I’ve been making while swimming year-round with my high school, winter club and summer club. My high school coach at Marian (Bill Thompson, [email protected]) is also my winter club coach at Motor City Aquatics (MCA).
At our Marian swim banquet in the fall, I was proud and humbled when my teammates and coach elected me as one of three captains for next year.
Academically, I have a cumulative GPA of 3.92, and I am taking honors math and science classes. I was on the Honor Roll for my Freshman year, and I expect to make it again this year. I was recently inducted to NSHSS (The National Society of High School Scholars).
My non-swim interests include singing and theater. (I have been singing the National Anthem at my high school and summer swim club meets since last year).
As far as my family background, I am the oldest of 3 kids. I am also a first-generation American on my mom’s side. (She came to the US from the Philippines when she was very young. I’m Filipina, Chinese, and Spanish on my mom’s side, and Caucasian on my dad’s side). My mom is 5’2”, and my dad is 6’4”. I’m 5’4” and wear a size 9 shoe, so I still have some growing ahead of me.
I am registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center (ID 1911754806). I think you can also look at my stats going back to around age 8 on USA Swimming (my USAS number is 111004LILMMAST).
I look forward to talking with you as I progress toward my college decision.
Thanks,
Lilly Masters
