My goals for university are to become an architect and have a degree in architectural and structural engineering. My goals for my athletic career are to be a part of a successful swim team, and qualify for high level college swim meets. The environment on a swim team is one of the most important parts to being a successful team, there needs to be a balanced level of competition and positivity between all of the team mates. I feel that I bring both of these characteristics to practices and other team events. My experience of swimming on many teams in Canada and the United States contribute to my knowledge of how to act, compete, and support others on a successful swim team. I am a Canadian and an American, I have met and competed against many athletes around the world, and I have been a part of five different teams. Through my experiences I have learned that as an athlete to be successful I need to work hard, focus on academics and athletics, and be a part of a team that believes in itself. This makes me a unique athlete because many of the other recruits may not know how to adapt to change in order to benefit themselves. The world of swimming has taught me how to be confident, strong, and positive in any situation, athletic or academic. I have learned in two different curriculums in two countries and it has taught me how to adapt to different learning structures. My athletic and academic experiences have taught me how to strengthen myself and become the athlete I am today.
