I set foot in the world of competitive swimming in the fall of 2016. In the spring prior to that, I had been given my last major hip surgery. With the pain that came from the repetitive pounding of other sports, I decided to give it a try. I still experience pain, but recently I have been working on physical therapy to improve the pain which will also strengthen my weak muscles. I believe if I continue to work at it, my times will improve.
In the 2020, 2021 and 2022 season I was voted “Hardest Worker” by my teammates. This sport has taught me to become a hard worker not just in the pool, but in academics and my job as well. I try to create a positive atmosphere around my teammates. I try to be the person who would encourage the team on a hard set, or make someone laugh when they are down.
Swimming helps me in the outside world too, for example, managing a tight schedule, how to deal with setbacks, and how to communicate with others. I maintain an A honor role with swimming year-round and working a job outside of girls season. Other things I do when I'm not swimming is working as a lifeguard at my local YMCA, baking, volunteering and of course keeping with up my schoolwork! I was also our boys swim team manager in 2022-2023. I'm not the fastest or tallest swimmer, but I believe my work ethic and attitude could help strengthen your team.
Most of all, I hope to continue my athletic career in college while also forming relationships with my teammates and coaches. I believe this is one of the most important aspects of swimming. I look forward to learning more about any programs, and I thank you for taking the time to check out my profile!
