I joined the Big Sandy Barracudas located in Big Sandy Montana, in 2011. My swim club competes for 9 weeks in the summer from 1 June to the first weekend of August every year. We are an associated team under the Montana Federation of Swimmers. Like many teams my team was not able to compete last year in meets due to COVID however we were able to at least keep a practice program available. However, I do practice on my own the rest of the year at an indoor pool an hour away several times through out the month. Three years ago I also, competed in Big Sky State Games for swimming and placed in all of races in the top three. Most of the swimmers that compete in Big Sky State Games are year round swimmers, so I was super excited to be able to place the way I did.
Since that first year of swimming, I fell in love with the sport. The constant push to do better, to be faster, simply to excel. I swim to compete and I swim for the pure enjoyment and contentment of swimming. If I was selected for a team I’d give them my all, I’d work hard, and I’d constantly strive for excellence. I can’t imagine a future without Swimming in it.
