Hello, my name is Madelyn Jaggers. I live in Reno, Nevada with my mother, father and younger sister. My love for swimming started at a young age. My sister and I joined the swim team at the same time approx. 7yrs ago and we have been pushing each other ever since. With hard work, dedication and my wonderful supporting parents I have achieved many of my short-term goals. I qualified for Nevada State Zone Champioships (state championships were canceled for 2021), Pacific Junior Olympics, Far Western Championships, Western Regional Championships and Western Zones Senior Championships. I continue to strive to maintain my grades in the classroom and attain faster times in anticipation of competing at the college level. I changed club teams approx 1 yr ago and have seen remarkable improvements in my stroke, endurance and times.
My goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot started in first grade. I dressed up as a pilot for career day and have been locked in on that career goal ever since. I had the privilege of being one a few selected from more than 500 applicants to attend a summer flight camp in Dayton Ohio. At this camp I started logging flight hours with an instructor. Attaining my private pilots license by my 17th birthday is one of main goals. Being a member of the Civil Air Patrol will help me attain this goal. CAP’s focus is to build on the cadets already great personal traits of being respectful, disciplined and a leader. As a cadet in the CAP, our leadership skills are utilized by volunteering in and around our community throughout the year.
With college just around the corner I believe these next two years will be the biggest growth period in my life. My plan of becoming a collegiate student athlete pushes me to succeed in the classroom, in the pool and in the air. I will continue to strive in leadership roles both in and out of the pool. My hope is that the mental and physical growth that I have acquired currently as well as in the near future, will prepare me for my college career and propel me into my career as a commercial pilot.
