Maya Ratzan '24 Recruiting Profile

HI! I am a Junior from Newark New Jersey who aspires to become a nurse who changes our world. I have been swimming since I was five years old, having been inspired by my parent's passion for it and always dreamed of becoming a Division 1 swimmer. I have swam competitively since I was eight years old, starting with local club teams and eventually joining Scarlet swim team. Currently, I am a long distance swimmer, doing the 400/500 Free and 200 IM for East Side Varsity Swim Team. At Essex County Schools of Technology- Newark Tech, I am second out of 135 in my class and am earning an associate degree through an early college program. I am a rising captain on my swim team, as well as a captain on my soccer team and debate team. I am a good candidate for college swimming as I am responsible, motivated, a leader in my community at school and in my teams, and a teammate who will always support every member of my team.
