I began swimming competitively when I was ten years old. Prior to swimming, I tried many other sports. Nothing felt right, until I jumped in the pool for the first time. I haven’t looked back since and feel at home in the pool. I made the varsity team at my school when I was in 8th grade and since this point, I have wanted to swim at the college level. It is the coaching staff at my club team, though, that has really kindled this fire in me. I have swam SCY meets for several years, and for the past two seasons I have swam in LCM meets. In October of 2017, I attended my New York State section 7 Sectional Meet and was awarded blue ribbons for the 200 IM relay, 200 Free relay and the 100 Breaststroke. I also received a second place win for the 500 Free. At section 7 sectionals in 2018, I was awarded blue ribbons for the 100 Breaststroke, 200 IM relay, and the 200 Individual medley. I received a second place win for the 200 Free relay. In November of 2017 and 2018, I attended the New York Swimming and Diving State Championships for my first place sectional wins. I achieved Eastern Zones Championship times for the 100 breaststroke and competed in the Zones meet in March of 2018 and 2019. In 2019, I finished third in the 100 breaststroke at finals. Furthermore, in February of 2019, I participated in Region 1 Short Course Invitational for three events.
I am a young, competitive swimmer with times that allow me to compete at elite competitions. I am also a leader on both my club team and my high school team. I enjoy being a part of a team and the team building process. I participate in the Athletic Leadership Academy at my high school. There are several workshops each year and they help me develop and enhance mental toughness, motivation, leadership, communication, and team unity and bonding. Overall, these workshops help me to become a more effective leader on my team and a better team member. I participate in other athletics which enable me to better myself as a swimmer. I also participate in a U15 girls club lacrosse team and I am part of the varsity track team at my high school. Furthermore, I make every effort possible to participate in strength and agility training. I am a certified lifeguard and plan to get a job as a lifeguard this summer. In addition, I am scheduled to take a Water Safety Instructor course this May.
As a student, I am responsible and achieve high grades, mostly in the 90s. I take advanced placement classes in science and math and take all honors level classes. Extracurricularly, I participate in other activities such as Science National Honor Society and National Honor Society. I have also been a member of 4H where I showed dairy cows and swine. In June of 2017, I was selected as 4H Grand Champion Dairy Showman, which enabled me to have to have the opportunity to attend and show at the New York State Fair. 4H has also given me the opportunity to be a Dairy Ambassador for my county.
My goals are to attend college to further my education and to pursue swimming competitively. I am interested in majoring in a science field. I want to attend a college that matches my needs and challenges and pushes me in the classroom as well as in the pool.
