I am not too sure what I would do without swimming as it has always been a major part of my life. I can't imagine sleeping in, not getting into a cold pool, or going to school or bed with dry hair. Swimming is a part of me, it's what makes me happy. It is my passion. It is so much more to me than a sport, it is what I know, what I love, and who I am. To me, swimming is not just being in the water and doing well, but it's the friendships I have made, the disciplines it has taught me, and the drive to do better that I love.
Swimming has taught me to be focused, time management skills, what it means to be dedicated, how to be a team player, and how to win and lose gracefully. These traits have carried over into my school work as well. I am lucky to say that I am currently a Junior at St. Ursula Academy in Toledo, Ohio. SUA is a college preparatory school with a challenging academic curriculum. I am a current member of the St. Ursula Swim Team as well as a member of The Greater Toledo Aquatic Club. I was also a member of Team Ohio. Through my high school seasons thus far I qualified for the Ohio High School State meet both my freshman and sophomore years. During my freshman year at Districts I placed 4th overall in the 200 yard free securing a spot at the state meet. My 400 Yard Free Relay placed first and went on to place 3rd overall in the state. During my sophomore year, I placed 7th overall in the 100 back, 8th overall in 50 free and my 400 Yard Free Relay placed first overall, qualifying for states.
My college goal and aspirations are to attend a university where I can be academically and athletically challenged. I am looking for a school where the students take pride in their university and want to be there. I am looking for a swim program where I can grow as an individual swimmer but more importantly as a team member. I love my individual events but I also love the relay events just as much. You can count on me to perform individually but also when I am on your relay team. My goal is to continue to be focused on both my academics and swimming, and to leave the university I attend with a diploma in my hand.
I look forward to speaking with you about how I can contribute to your program.
