Thank you so much for viewing my profile! I've been swimming competitively since the age of 6 and over the years my love for it has only grown. I started out on our small club team, The Dalles Dolphins as a novice swimmer in the summer of 2008, and over the years I've grown to help lead it. There has never been any other activity I'd rather spend my summer break involved in. Along with my club team I joined the high school swim team in the Winter of 2016 during my freshman year, which included going to state in the 200 Freestyle relay.
As my high school swimming career continued, nothing made swimming more meaningful then being given the title of girls varsity team captain over the course of my Junior and Senior swim seasons. This is a role that I take very seriously and I know that my coaches have faith in me to do it well. I love helping build a strong feeling of family on our team and I get excited when I watch my fellow swimmers meet their goals.
Ever since I was able to swim all four strokes correctly I've harbored a love for both the Freestyle and Butterfly sprinting events. Throughout high school I have led the sprinting team and played a large role in the 200 Freestyle relay. The rush of adrenaline always keeps me coming back to the 50 Freestyle, and everything about it makes me fall in love with swimming over and over again. Swimming isn't a team sport but instead a family sport. Every year I've swam I've found a family like no other, and without my teammates I don't know if I would've kept coming back every year, because swimming is absolutely not without struggle. There were days of not being able to lift my arms over my head, days where my legs ached, and countless training and physical therapy sessions over the years to take care of my body. Swimmers sacrifice sleep and energy to get up before anyone else, and sometimes forcing myself into that cold water had me asking myself if it was all worth it. But swimming always brings me back to who I am, and that weightless feeling of being submerged in silence is something I will always go back to - when life pushes me down swimming holds me up.
Getting through a minor injury I got during my Sophomore year made swimming difficult and for a long time I was close to throwing in the towel, but after two years of working hard and pushing through I was thrilled to finally PR once again in the 50 Freestyle this past February at my district meet. It reminded me how much love I hold for my sport. Swimming has always been and will always be my outlet and my life wouldn't be complete without the pool, because my life has revolved around swimming since before I can remember. It has given me memories and friendships that I will cherish forever and has shaped me into the young woman I am proud to be today. I am excited to continue my athletic journey on the college level, and promise to give you everything I have. Thank you again for looking over my profile. Please contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
